Who makes it
I'm Joan Ramos, and I build small free websites that each try to make one thing easier.
It started with Mary's Printables, a free printables site I never expected to go far. Then people began emailing me. A teacher had found just the worksheet her class needed. A parent was using a chart with a child who was going through a tough time. Someone had printed what they needed at the last minute and made it just in time.
What they valued wasn't anything clever. The page was there, it worked right away, and it didn't ask them for anything. I've tried to build every site since to that same standard.
Why a travel checklist site
Packing is a list of small decisions, and the night before a trip is a bad time to make them. How many shirts for nine days? Will the security line take my sunscreen? Is my bag too big for this airline?
The answers are out there, but they're spread across airline pages, government sites and long forum threads. I wanted them in one calm place.
What makes a good packing checklist
A good checklist fits your trip, not every trip. A beach week, a ski weekend and a business trip need different things, and a list for two days shouldn't look like a list for two weeks.
It should also tell you where its numbers come from. The packing list generator shows the simple rule behind each count, so you can adjust it. Travel rules change, so treat everything here as a general guide and check with your airline or the TSA before you fly.
